Harry Wenberg '50 has been residing Saratoga for 34 years with wife Jean. He is in good health and will be celebrating his 85th birthday in October.

Harry Wenberg '50 retired in 1982 as technical superintendent after 32 years of service with Kaiser Aluminum. He writes "Still living in our home in Saratoga since 1975. We are enjoying our new great grandaughter, Cameron, born March 17, 2015, to Courtney (Dunan) Duka '09 and husband Brent."

Ravizza, Eugene

Eugene "Gene" A. Ravizza ’50 was selected as a School of Engineering Centennial Award recipient for his commitment to integrity while designing and executing cutting-edge electrical systems and for his ongoing support of his alma mater. In 1954 Ravizza co-founded Cupertino Electric, a company that has grown into one of the top 10 electrical contracting firms in the country. Innovative problem-solvers, the company has “powered the creation of Silicon Valley” through projects such as the first semiconductor chip fabrication plant to an ultra-energy-efficient data center, to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. He has generously supported the School of Engineering’s successful Solar Decathlon entries in 2007 and 2009, and has also created a scholarship fund for undergraduate engineers. Ravizza received the School of Engineering Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award in 1997.

Murphy, Bill

William Murphy '50, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, was honored on Veterans Day as a Veterans of Foreign War Hero. He received the honor by the Watsonville Veterans Association. Murphy, who graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1941 but has called Watsonville home for most of his life, was quick to downplay the distinction. “Don’t connect me with a hero’s honor,” he said. “The real heroes are still over there; they never came home.”

Robert Lambert '50 and his wife Margaret will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 24, 2010.  This date in 1950 is one week after Robert graduated from Santa Clara.

John Gallagher '50 has enjoyed retirement for the past 23 years after a 40-year career as a civil engineer with the Washington State Department of Transportation (1950-1990). John and his wife, Evelyn, have been married for 57 years, raised 5 children, and have 6 grandchildren. They are now residing in an assisted living facility in Tacoma, WA.

Buckley, S.J., Cornelius

Cornelius Buckley, S.J., ’50 celebrated his golden jubilee of priesthood in March, when, to honor his life of service, his family and friends established a scholarship fund in his name at Thomas Aquinas College for financially challenged students. There, he is the head chaplain and assistant dean for religious affairs. Buckley has spent much of his academic career in Jesuit institutions—earning multiple degrees, teaching, and serving in administrative positions. His publications include the book When Jesuits Were Giants, Your Word, O Lord … Meditations for College Students and Anyone Else, and a translation of Simon Decloux’s The Ignatian Way. Helfrich, Frank

Frank Helfrich ’51 received a commendation in May from the Menlo Park Historical Association for 30 years of volunteer service. The  83-year-old historian and Menlo Park native helped to shepherd the nonprofit organziation almost from day one, archiving the town’s memories, which he still does. Fr. Ed McMahon '52 writes that in his 80th year he has finished a 12 year research project with small groups called "Rediscovering the Lost Body-Connection Within Christian Spirituality."  It will be published shortly as a workbook with practical body-learnings and exercises that can transform a Christian's awareness of who Christ is today and who each of us is "in Christ."

Marcel Fiore M.A. '66 retired from 17 years of high school teaching and administration. He coached wrestling, football, and baseball at Santa Clara High School and baseball at Wilcox High School. He is happily married to wife Bev of 54 years. They have four children, including David Fiore '79, and five grandsons.
