Santos, Nicholas

Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska, welcomes Nicholas J.C. Santos, S.J., Th.M. '02, Ph.D. to its Board of Trustees. Fr. Santos brings a wealth of experience in Jesuit higher education. He is an assistant professor of marketing at the College of Business at Marquette University, in Milwaukee, and the co-director of Marquette’s social innovation initiative. He advises Marquette’s Alpha Sigma Nu chapter as well as the student chapter of Changemakers, which expands social innovation and entrepreneurship among students to help tackle the world’s most pressing problems.

A native of Pune, India, Santos holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in businessfrom the University of Pune; bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and theology from Jnana Deepa Vidyapeeth, also in Pune; a master’s in theology from the Jesuit School of Theology at Santa Clara University; and MBA and Ph.D. degrees from Marquette University.

Prior to entering the Jesuits, Santos was an accountant for a chemical distributor and transportation company. As a Jesuit, he taught for eight years at St. Vincent’s College of Commerce in Pune, which has a special emphasis on providing business education to low-income students. He spent three years as a visiting scholar and post-doctoral fellow at Santa Clara University’s Markkula Center for Applied Ethics and was also involved with the Global Social Benefit Incubator program of the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara.

Rodriguez, Ofelia
Ofelia Rodriguez '01 is now working for SCU's Gifts and Records. She will be assisting with on-line gift and demographic batch entry as well as other administrative duties that are needed within our area. Ofelia comes to us from O'Connor Hospital with 14 years of experience. She had supervisory duties and oversaw the administration of employee files and clinically related activities of the department involving hospital staff.

Mackey, Bridget

Bridget Mackay J.D. '95 was recently profiled on Petaluma360.com for her commitment to the local community. Bridget served as a deputy district attorney for both Solano and Sonoma counties for nearly 10 years. When she switched to estate planning, Mackay found herself with time to devote to local causes.

One cause that appealed to her was an opportunity to join the Petaluma Educational Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises money to benefit local schools. She's now President of the Board of Directors.  Mackay  helps oversee two Alphabet Soup thrift stores and serves as the chair of the planned giving committee and has used her legal skills to develop the Planned Giving program, as well as helped the committee establish a system for donors to give through their wills, trusts, IRA’s and life insurance policies. 

In 2014 she earned the title of Best Attorney in the Petaluma People’s Choice Award. Her hobbies: skiing, scuba diving, and traveling on vacation with her husband and two daughters, especially if the travel involves skiing or scuba diving.

Dion, Philip
Philip J. Dion J.D. '94, MBA '94 joins American Electric Power, one of the largest electric utilities in the United States, as vice president, Technology Business Development. Dion, 47, was previously with UNS Energy Corp. as senior vice president, Public Policy and Customer Solutions, since 2013. Prior, he was responsible for the direction and execution of regulatory and legislative strategy at the federal and state levels for UNS Energy Corp. He also had oversight of customer service and engagement, marketing, corporate communications, customer programs and community relations. Prior to his tenure with UNS Energy Corp, Dion was an advisor to a Commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, as well as a Commissioner at the Arizona Corporation Commission. Dion also was a deputy Maricopa County attorney and an administrative law judge at the Arizona Corporation Commission.
