63 Thomas Bugbee writes that his daughter-in-law, Monique Lhuillier Bugbee, was featured in the January 24 issue of Newsweek magazine as “Hollywood’s Hot Designer.” Monique designed Britney Spears’ wedding gown and many other gowns worn by Hollywood stars.
71 Jim Martin gave a talk to the Oregon Historical Society on his 1992 book A Bit of a Blue: The Life and Work of Frances Fuller Victor, about an early historian of the American West. The December 2004 talk was videotaped and shown on C-SPAN.
74 Jay Berens and Jan (Mozirka) live in Scottsdale, Ariz., where they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Two sons and two grandchildren live nearby. The Berens are retired and travel throughout North America in their Bonanza plane, which Jay pilots. They play golf and are active in the Franciscan Renewal Center. Kevin Tully J.D. ’77 is a civil litigator and mediator at his own law firm in San Mateo, his hometown. His two daughters are Kristina, an SCU junior studying in Florence, and Marisa, a freshman at NYU. His wife, Mira, died in 1997. He married his wife, Louise, in 1999, and they live in Millbrae.
75 Jose R. Lopez married Susan Rose on Dec. 12, 2004 in Fernley, Nev., where they live. Music at the wedding was provided by classmates Chip and Laynette Evans.
76 Gregorio Mora Torres translated and edited Californio Voices: The Oral Memoirs of Jose Maria Amador and Lorenzo Asisara, published by the University of North Texas Press in a bilingual edition. The memoirs of soldiering and mission work are about two people who lived in nineteenth century Northern California. Gregorio teaches in the Department of Mexican-American Studies at San Jose State University.
79 Priscilla Kisling-Palmer MBA ’85 is controller of the animal feed division of the Wilbur-Ellis Company. The division trades and markets animal feed to dairy, beef, pet and poultry industries in the U.S. and abroad. She lives in Clovis with her daughter, Kristina, 13.
80 Jill (Krauss) Thoreson has moved back to San Jose from Bellevue, Wash., with her husband, Matt, and three sons, Brad, Doug, and Jack.
81Jay Bechtel works for Google, Inc., where he does real estate and construction jobs throughout the world. Mark Intrieri J.D. ’84 was named one of the top 100 Northern California Attorneys by Northern California Super Lawyers (published by Law & Politics) in September 2004. He practices with Chapman & Intrieri in Alameda.
84 John Boken was honored with the 2004 Turnaround of the Year Mega Company Award by the Turnaround Management Association, for his leadership in the turnaround of NRG Energy, Inc., a company with annual revenues of $2.2 billion. John is a managing director of Kroll Zolfo Cooper in Los Angeles, and has more than 15 years of experience in corporate restructuring. Victor Valdez is director of religious education at Our Lady of the Wayside Church in Woodside. He previously worked at SCU as a resident minister and at St. John Vianney Parish in San Jose as director of religious education.
85 Kimberley (Herbert) Monasterio has moved to Massachusetts with her husband and two daughters to take a job as deputy treasurer of Fidelity Funds.
86 Arthur De Lorimier served eight months in Iraq with the 2/10th Mountain Division and is back at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as the chief of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Division. Matthew Weingart is commanding officer of the fast attack submarine U.S.S. Newport News.
87 Kathyrn (Moore) Garnes and her husband of 20 years, Gene, currently live in New Mexico, where Gene works for Eclipse Aviation, a company that plans to produce an air taxi. She is raising two sons, and reports that her eldest son, Nick, has been accepted to SCU this fall. Victoria Vertson married Chris Muffie on January 22 in Corona Del Mar. They live in Newport Beach.
89 Susan Bergen and Dennis Dean Allen Jr. announce the birth of their first child, Dennis Dean III, on March 16, 2004. Dante Chu is vice president of Magic Media, Inc., in Hayward, a software development company for computer-based training products. Maria Galati has been named the Oregon Art Educator of the year by the National Art Education Association. She teaches at David Douglas High School in Portland. Lisa Nirady and Rene Pristas announce the birth of a son, Maxwell Parker, on Oct. 9, 2004, in Wareham, Mass. He joins sister Lauren, 2.
90 Laurie Kinoshita and Dean Beaver announce the birth of twins, Kailyn Brooke and Aidan Dean, on Dec. 13, 2004. The family lives in San Jose. Hendy (Lund) Appleton and her husband, Rob, announce the birth of a daughter, Kayla Hope, on Nov. 30, 2004, in Santa Cruz. Dan McSweeney and his wife, Sandra, announce the birth of a son, Jonathan Joseph, on June 18, 2004, in San Jose. Mike O’Brien lives in Sacramento with his wife, Kristin, and son, Jack.
91 Shannon (Bacon) Selig and her husband, Joshua, announce the birth of a daughter, Riley Bacon, on July 28, 2004, in New York City. Shannon is the associate business manager of InStyle magazine and Josh is in his final year of Brooklyn Law School. They live in Brooklyn, N.Y. Kevin Melia married Rachel Bell ’92 on Oct. 30, 2004, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in La Quinta. Kevin works for Storm Ventures, a venture capital firm in Menlo Park. Rachel is a media supervisor specializing in online marketing for Carat Interactive in San Francisco. They live in Mountain View. Eileen (Tinney) Goodwin and her husband, Chris, announce the birth of a son, Charles Joseph, on Sept. 6, 2004 in Palo Alto. Eileen is a senior manager for executive communications in the office of the president at Cisco Systems, and Chris is a senior manager for enterprise data solutions at Cisco. They live in San Jose’s Willow Glen neighborhood. Zeus Mendoza is lead singer for the recording artists “simpleworld.” He was the voice of the cockatoo in Bud Light’s 2005 Super Bowl advertising.
92 Leslie Michelle (Major) and Christopher Auer live near Denver, with their three children: Lauren, 7, Brendan, 4 and Evan, 2. Leslie is an occupational therapist. Linda (McGuire) and Dan Biles announce the birth of a son, Spencer Thomas, on Feb. 13. He joins sisters Rory and Mackenzie, both 4, and brother Connor, 3, at home in Danville. Colleen Calandra-Freund and Eric Freund ’95 announce the birth of a daughter, Hannah Claire, on July 22, 2004. She joins brother Charlie, 2. The family lives in Granite Bay. Allison (Clinton) Rak and her husband, Adam, announce the birth of a daughter, Jane Hart, on Dec. 8, 2004. She joins sister Phoebe, 3. Allison is director of consumer insight at 2ndEdison, an innovation and design firm in San Francisco. Adam is the director of government relations at Symantec, and an MBA student at SCU. The family lives in San Carlos. Stefan Long married Christiane Mueller on April 9, 2004, in Portland, Ore., where they live. They held a a formal marriage ceremony in Portugal for their European family and friends in May. Patty (Ronyak) Prouty is the information service director of Lewis County in Chehalis, Wash. She was previously information services manager for the Secretary of State. She lives in Chehalis with her husband, James, a Washington state trooper, and their two children: Brock, 5, and Victoria, 2. Mark Sacco and his wife, Katie (Gough) ’93, welcomed their second child, Lucia Elizabeth, on Dec. 30, 2004. She joins brother Owen. The family recently moved to Centennial, Colo., near Denver. Brandon Schmidt and Shannon (Perry) ’93 announce the birth of a third son, Nolan Brandon, on February 17. He joins brothers Ryan, 5, and Carson, 2, in Leawood, Kan. Brandon is a vice president of sales with Corporate Express and Shannon is a stay-at-home mom. Tina Stafford married Andy Paterson in Santa Cruz. They are both actors and live in New York City.
93 Teresa Chagoya and Peter Cournoyer announce the birth of a son, Peter Joseph Jr., on Jan. 15, 2004, in San Jose. Carolyn (Leo) Miller and her husband, Kevin, announce the birth of their first child, Mackenzie Clare, on January 17. They live in Williamsburg, Va., where they are building a new home. Carolyn is a stay-at-home mom, and Kevin, a certified financial planner, owns and runs two financial companies. Peter Lampe and his wife, Kristi, announce the birth of a daughter, Megan Anne, on April 12, 2004. She joins big sister, Kaitlyn, 3. Mike Polosky and Lori Coors-Polosky ’95 are returning to Dallas, Texas, in July after Lori completes a fellowship in vitroretinal surgery. Lori will join Texas Retina Associates, and Mike continues at IBM as business transformation outsourcing global travel services manager. Mark Stricherz married Angy Peterson in Des Moines, Iowa, on Oct. 23, 2004. The wedding party included John Gilroy and Kevin Sullivan; Dan Kearns ’94 was in attendance. Mark and Angy live in Washington, D.C., where Mark is working on a book on the decline of the post-1968 Democratic Party. Wendy (Traiger) and John Wilhelms announce the birth of a daughter, Leah Kathryn, on Oct. 7, 2004. She joins sister Hannah, 3. The family lives in Portland, Ore., where John is a manager at Precision Castparts, and Wendy is a stay-at-home mom.
94 Stephanie (Barnes) Ghinn has two daughhters: Alexandra, 6 and Fionnuala, 2. Stephanie is director of library technology at Robert Louis Stevenson High School in Pebble Beach, and is applying to graduate school. Her husband, Danny, passed his real estate exam and has signed on with a broker. Julie Chang and her husband, Chris McEvoy, announce the birth of a daughter, Leah Megan Wai Lan, on Oct. 4, 2004. Michelle Dupuis married David Babbage II on May 8, 2004, at the Santa Clara Mission. Michelle works for Comerica Bank and is a vice president relationship manager at the bank’s Palo Alto office. David works at Silicon Image in Sunnyvale. The couple lives in Saratoga. Jeff Fossatti and his wife, Jennifer, announce the birth of a daughter, Madeline, on Oct. 19, 2004. The family lives in Dallas, Texas. Jeff works for Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. Nikki Martin has returned to the United States after four years in Tokyo, where she worked in a communications firm. She now works for FischerHealth, a strategic communications firm for health care clients and lives in a condo in downtown Long Beach’s arts district. Jennifer Rozolis-Hill M.A. ’97 and her husband, Tom, welcomed their second child, James Thomas, on May 26, 2004. The family lives in Huntington Beach. Amber (Smith) Crothall and her husband, George, welcomed a baby girl, Evelyn Claire, in September. Amber is an attorney in San Jose, and George owns and operates Tagdesign, a machine shop and product design consulting firm in San Jose.
95 Mary Cadiz married Reed Levick on Sept. 25, 2004, at St. John’s in the Woods Church in Welches, Ore. The wedding party included Dawn Bacigalupi, Tony Cadiz ’93, Patrick Cadiz ’94, and Michael Cadiz ’99. Nicole (Farrar) and Josh Fahrer ’94 announce the birth of a daughter, Alexa Jane, on Oct. 25, 2004. Nicole is a senior marketing manager at Deloitte in Phoenix, and Josh is a sales consultant at BMW in Scottsdale, Ariz. Julie McDaniel married Jens Meggers on Aug. 28, 2004, in Palos Verdes. Classmates in attendance included Margaret Quan, Sylvanna Falcon, Lori (Wallen) Sullivan, and Kyle Zitek. They live in Redondo Beach. Alison (Mulka) Peters and her husband, Kevin, announce the birth of a son, Ryan Patrick, on Nov. 18, 2004, in Seattle, Wash. Alison is planning to work part-time doing political consulting for local campaigns.
96 Laura (Zyromski) Covitz and her husband, Jason, announce the birth of a son, Ryan James, on Dec. 21, 2004. He joins sister Ashley, 2. The family lives in Dallas, Texas, where Laura is a supply chain manager for CellStar, Ltd. Julie (Copp) and Gray Dawson live in Gardnerville, Nev., with their children Ellie, 6, Jacob, 4 and Ely, 2. Gray is a family practice physician and a lieutenant in the Navy. He is head of the Naval Branch Clinic at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center near Bridgeport, Calif. He is also on the Navy marathon team and the Camp Pendleton triathlon team, and plays the mandolin. Julie homeschools their children, and is a writer and editor. Kevin Dunning and his wife, Carolyn, announce the birth of a daughter, Elizabeth Rose, on June 6, 2004. Matt Hansink and his wife, Holly Geringer, moved from Seattle to Corrales, N.M., where Matt is development coordinator for the New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation, and Holly owns Pilates Southwest, a studio in Albuquerque. Jeffrey Lundberg is a partner marketing manager for PolyServe Inc. in Beaverton, Ore. He previously worked at Veritas as a senior product marketing manager. He married Priscilla Atamian in 2004. Suzy (Pollack) Loftus and her husband, Tom, announce the birth of a daughter, Maureen Aoife, on Dec. 1, 2004. The family lives in San Francisco.
97 Richard Childers was recently awarded the Fleet Marine Force Ribbon and designated as a Fleet Marine Warfare Officer while deployed in Fallujah, Iraq. Richard is a Navy lieutenant, and is now serving as an assistant regimental surgeon at the Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital. Jeannie Cocconi married Peter Wynne on Oct. 16, 2004, in Menlo Park. The wedding party included Courtney (Crean) Lombardo, Charlotte (Castro) Markey, and Suzanne (DalPorto) Devitt. Other participants in the ceremony included Steve Philpott, Jennifer Schott and Andrea (Sehestedt) Shaheen ’98, J.D. ’01. Karen Mion married Chris Pachmayer at the Wailae Country Club in Oahu, Hawaii, on Aug. 29, 2004. Susan Rickard J.D. ‘01 married David Hansen on June 19, 2004, in Santa Barbara. The wedding party included Jennyfer Aguilera, Mary Rickard ’00, Kathy Carr, Becky (Porter) Bolt, Tara (Donaghy) Flores, Maria (Sabatini) Covatta and Tyler Berchtold. Former SCU adjunct professor James O. Hammer assisted in the service of the Mass. The wedding was hosted by the bride’s parents, Nikki (Paquet) ’69 and John T. Rickard ’70. Amanda Santana married Adrian Liang on January 15 in Cozumel, Mexico. The wedding party included Katie Carson, Dave Sousa, and Slaven Zivkovic. Other Broncos present included Emilee (Betz) Bond, Neal Arthur, Mark Anderson, Akshay Vyas, Taj Haynes, Kenny Kwan ’95, Kenta Amemiya ’95 and Steven Santana ’01. The couple lives in San Francisco.
98 Dana Allen married Christine Galofre on May 29, 2004, in Carmel Valley. The wedding party included Eric Larson ‘00, and Brian Uffelman was in attendance. The couple lives in Frisco, Texas. Both Dana and Christine earned MBAs from the University of Michigan in April 2004, and are assistant product managers for Frito-Lay. Desiree (Hardcastle) Toeller and her husband, Martin, announce the birth of a daughter, Madeline Anna, on February 18. The family lives in Milpitas. Nicole (Reed) and John Snedigar ’97 welcomed their first son, Brayden Douglas, on Dec. 12, 2004. The family lives in San Jose.
99 Sophia Cope graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in May 2004 and was sworn into the California bar in December 2004. She has a fellowship with a First Amendment non-profit firm, assisting environmental activists with issues related to freedom of speech, petition, and information. Katie D’Amico married Michael Irvine on Aug. 28, 2004, at St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Rancho Palos Verdes. The wedding party included Michele Trapani, Summer Kohnert, and Mary Manuel. Yvette Yambao was cantor. Guests included Ryan and Anne (Gross) Daugherty, Jeff Fioresi ’98, Bruce and Lindsay (Dietrich) McGregor, Danielle (Carlton) and Andy Read ’97, Tom Rippo and John Trapani ’01. The couple honeymooned in Fiji, and lives in San Carlos. Leslie Green married Mike Decina on Aug. 14, 2004, at Mission Santa Clara, followed by a reception in the Mission Gardens. They honeymooned in Tahiti. They live in Seattle where Leslie teaches first grade at the Bush School, and Mike is an attorney for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Scott Parejo earned a bachelor of arts degree in film direction from Academy of Art University in December 2004. He writes that he is “moving on to L.A. to pursue funding on my first feature.” Shehrzad Qureshi has written a book, Embedded Image Processing on the TMS320C6000 DSP, and has published numerous articles in software magazines. He lives in Palo Alto with his wife, Lubna. Tana Young married Dr. Kyle Rhodes on Sept. 5, 2004, in Portland. The wedding party included Shannon Nessier, Julie Adair, and SCU freshman, Jeffrey Matlock. Tana is a physician assistant in family practice in Oakland. The couple lives in San Francisco.
00 Alan Abar married Olivia Tuason at Mission Santa Clara on January 8. The reception was held at the Westin Santa Clara. The wedding party included Claudale Corpus, Rex Isaguirre, George Carino, and Audrey Abar ’05. More than 20 classmates attended. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii. Melissa (Gregory) and Cory Costanzo ’99 announce the birth of twins, Anthony James and Nicholas Gregory, on February 1, in Fresno. Cecelia Garrison earned a master’s degree in pastoral ministries from SCU in 2003. She is pursuing a master’s in divinity at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. Orlando Rodriguez and his wife, Edna, were married on Oct. 4, 2003, in Los Angeles. Classmates in attendance included Lance Wu, Julian Tobias, Sean Hood, Lowen Thomas, Adam Oren ’01, Raul Atler ’02, Janelle Martinez ’01, Becky Aoanan, and Nathalie Oroz. The couple had a daughter, Carolina Anahi, on Sept. 3, 2004.
01 Christine Epres is a J.D./MBA student at Syracuse University in upstate New York. She is president of the National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, and participated in the Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition. Kevin McDonough is an account manager with a sports talk radio station in Atlanta, Ga.
02 Katie Lauerman married Tony Taormino ’00 on Nov. 20, 2004, at Mission Santa Clara. Attendants included Erica Bero, Nick Piziali ’02, Galaham Zuanich ’98, Lowen Thomas ’00, and Radu Buta ’00.
03 Samantha Harris married Brendan Bartholomew ’02 on Nov. 27, 2004, in the Mission Church with Frederick Tollini, S.J., presiding. The wedding party included Roland Bailie ’02, William Rupel ’89, Genevieve Hokanson ’04 and Jessica Larson. Linda (Gonzales) Manzur and her husband, Stevan, were married on March 24, 2004. They welcomed a daughter, Alyssa Guadalupe, on Nov. 11, 2004. They Linda is a case manager for a non-profit, and Stevan is a police officer. They live in San Jose. Elizabeth Skinner married Collin Lindsey ’02 on July 3, 2004, at the Ashland Springs Hotel in Ashland, Ore. Elizabeth is a real estate broker in Medford, Ore., and Collin is a sales manager at Skinner Autoplex in Medford. The couple honeymooned on the Turks and Caicos Islands, and lives in Medford.
04 Ryan Brown married Julia Noble on Oct. 3, 2004, at the Lanam Club in Andover, Mass. They live in Watertown, Mass.
