John Cruden J.D. ’74 becomes assistant attorney general for the Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division.
In January, John Cruden J.D. ’74 was sworn in as assistant attorney general for the Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD). A West Point grad, he served in Germany and Vietnam; he was awarded the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. After law school he rose to chief legislative counsel of the U.S. Army, then joined the ENRD, where he played a leading role in the Justice Department’s major environmental cases—including prosecution for the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska and BP’s 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
