Bio Partners

Santa Clara joins partnership to grow biomanufacturing workforce.

Vitamins and vaccines. Lab-grown meat and 3D-printed organs. Biodegradable plastics. These are just some of what’s produced by biomanufacturing.

Santa Clara University is developing a workforce for this rapidly growing field by partnering with Biocom California. The new BioCAD Data Programming for Biomanufacturing Scale-up project, which is also supported by the biotechnology and life sciences firms Genentech and Merck, was funded by a grant from the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals.

SCU and Biocom will offer a series of online learning courses in biomanufacturing analytics for college students and professionals. This work will also be extended through collaborations with community college instructors.
