High rents and typically low starter salaries do not mix well. But it seems graduates of Santa Clara University need not worry. SCU has again ranked in the top 1 percent of undergraduate alumni nationwide for average salaries in their early and mid-careers. According to the compensation data company Payscale, Santa Clara alumni ranked No. 9 overall. The median earnings for SCU alumni within their first five years post-graduation was $87,300. For those with a decade or more of professional experience, the median salary was $173,100. Santa Clara was among just three California colleges to appear in the top 10 nationally.
