When Jordan Angeli ’08 played soccer at the highest levels—from the Broncos to the Women’s Professional Soccer league and then in the National Women’s Soccer League—the best part was being part of a team. Now she’s part of another team: For Denver FC, a grassroots group bringing women’s soccer to Denver.

This year, the group celebrated the announcement that Denver will host the latest NWSL team with a whopping $110 million investment. The Denver Summit is the league’s 16th team and will begin play in 2026.

“It just feels like it’s been a long time coming,” Angeli told the CBS Sports podcast Attacking Third. When Denver FC was made official, it was a full circle moment for Angeli, who’s spoken about how meaningful it would’ve been to her to play for a hometown team.

“It was such a surreal moment,” she says. “A little girl from Lakewood, Colo., who had a dream of being a professional, and now I feel so honored to be able to pass that dream on to so many young girls that live here.”
