How an art history major parlayed her education into political communications

From the art museum to political organizing: Britt Eames ’11 sees a lot of crossover in skills from her careers

To art history major Britt Eames ’11, art is not just about Picasso and Manet. Art is about history, psychology, politics—and everything in between.

After beginning a glamorous art career on Park Avenue and at the Guggenheim, she’s since parlayed her skills in visual communication to launch her second career as a social media content creator and director for political campaigns including Michelle Obama’s “When We All Vote” initiative and Jane Fonda’s Climate PAC.

Her work isn’t just about catchy political slogans or simple graphics. Eames says her work is about empowering people to take action and share meaningful information forward—an ethical framework she also credits to her time at Santa Clara.

“Santa Clara constantly reminds you that purpose has to do with community. It doesn’t matter what you’re studying or the career roles you take—your responsibility for your fellow human beings follows you everywhere.”
