In a whirlwind week, Matt McCarty ’21 went from narrowly missing out on a major tournament victory to earning a spot on the PGA Tour for the first time.

After a tough final-round loss at The Ascendant on the Korn Ferry Tour, he triumphed with a first-place win at the Price Cutter Charity Championship in July, followed by another first-place finish at the Pinnacle Bank Championship.

A standout during his time at Santa Clara, McCarty was a three-time First Team All-West Coast Conference (WCC), three-time WCC All-Academic First Team, and two-time Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America Scholar, competing in 47 career events and qualifying for the 2021 NCAA Regionals.

As of early October 2024, McCarty is ranked 76th in the world.
