Farewell Director

Santa Clara University’s beloved Director of Athletics Renee Baumgartner is stepping down

Ending an accomplished nine-year track record, Renee Baumgartner stepped down as the University’s Director of Athletics. Baumgartner led the department to numerous athletic accomplishments. Under Baumgartner, the women’s soccer program won its second national title, and the men’s soccer team captured three WCC titles. For these efforts, Baumgartner received the 2022-23 Cushman & Wakefield Athletics Director of the Year Award.

“There is no replacing Renee, but she leaves us set up for a very bright future,” legendary women’s soccer coach Jerry Smith said. “I personally am grateful for all she has done for me, our players, and the program, and will never forget winning a National Championship together.”
