Padres reliever Steven Wilson ’17 overcame a lot to land in the majors: shoulder injury in his first year in college, Tommy John surgery in 2017, and an on-and-off hip injury, on top of losing a year to COVID-19 lockdowns. He supported his minor league career by driving an Uber and taking on other odd jobs. But playing in the bigs? Well, that’s a dream come true. Wilson made his major league debut on April 9, 2022.
