With large get-togethers few and far between because of the pandemic, Kelsey ’15 and Sean Roe ’15 decided to make their wedding be a week to remember. The wedding week had guests running through the lush trees of McCall, Idaho, taking boat rides on Payette Lake, and burning the midnight sun on the dance floor.
Aside from being a celebratory moment, it was a great Bronco reunion. The couple wanted the week to be an opportunity for the people in their lives to meet, blend and make a new community. Especially with friends coming from as far north as Seattle to California’s Napa Valley, the trip to Idaho needed to be a wedding and more.
While planning had to be done remotely, for a duo like Kelsey and Sean, there was nothing a little bit of teamwork couldn’t do. They picked an outdoor venue near Kelsey’s hometown and close to a state park for their activities. Taking a trip down memory lane they danced to classics from SCU like Shout by the Isley Brothers and Get Lucky by Daft Punk. The week also included tacos al pastor, a beloved dish from the couple’s trip to Mexico, and breakfast burritos hearkening back to their time at SCU.
“We’ve been together for so long, so it was nice to just kind of have that moment just to soak it in, and it was really special,” Kelsey says. “Then to [just] have everybody around there was really overwhelming, especially for me, because that’s my home state and Idaho is kind of a trek. So just being surrounded by all these people from different parts of our lives, all in one place. It was really special.”
