With her on-air partner, Derek Rae, Wagner’s work earned plaudits for adding nuance to the airwaves. Iran’s 1–0 win over Morocco on FOX Sports provided the backdrop for Wagner’s historic first call. She’s not new to setting records: Wagner scored SCU’s winning goal in the 2001 NCAA championship over North Carolina and played in more than 130 games for the U.S. national team.
