SCU baseball players Steven Wilson ’17 and Jake Brodt ’18 were drafted in the eighth and ninth rounds, respectively, of the 2018 Major League Baseball First-Year Draft.

Right-handed pitcher Wilson, right, was drafted by the San Diego Padres. A three-time WCC All-American Honorable Mention, Wilson finished the 2018 season striking out 58 batters in 44 innings. Wilson went in the earliest round of the draft of any Bronco since pitcher Mitchell White ’17 was picked in the second round for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2016.

SCU first baseman Brodt was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Brodt led the Broncos with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs while starting in all 52 games. He has kept up his ability to crush homers in the minors; he clobbered a grand slam in July to help the Vancouver Canadians beat Eugene 8–1.
