Tess Heal ’26 is nabbing awards left and right thanks to a stellar freshman year with Santa Clara women’s basketball.

Santa Clara women’s basketball guard Tess Heal ’26 is having a stellar first year on the court.

The West Coast Conference deemed the recruit from Melbourne, Australia the Newcomer of the Year. The award came just after Heal was named the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week a record 12 times.

She also eclipsed the 500-points mark in February, posting 533 points in 2022-2023. That’s the seventh-most points ever scored by a SCU player in a single season.

“People tell me she’s a good player,” Broncos associate head coach Michael Floyd told the Mercury News of Heal. “But she’s still a freshman. She’s still learning. We know she’s going to get better.”
