Vice Provost for Graduate Programs Toby McChesney’s journey to becoming a board member of the East San Jose nonprofit Veggielution began with an annual assignment he offered to his SCU undergraduate business communication class.
“Find an issue related to a Silicon Valley organization and help them achieve their goal,” McChesney explained.
When one group went the extra mile on a fundraiser for an organization they selected called Veggielution, McChesney was intrigued. Soon, McChesney found himself attending events so he could learn more about the six-acre farm serving their low-income neighbors in East San Jose.
While McChesney is a member of many boards, he’s eager to see the transformations and community building between SCU and Veggielution–all thanks to some passionate Broncos who inspired him to learn more about the sustainability work.
