William Slivkoff M.S. ’64 was a pioneer in the development of the Global Positioning System, popularly known as GPS. Much of his work remains relevant today, including a lunar probe he designed in the 1960s which is still on the moon. Bill grew up excelling in academics as well as sports and became the first person in his family to go to college. He started his career at IBM, where he met his wife, Emma Rose Jones, and later found success in electrical engineering. Bill was awarded a number of patents for equipment he designed at Ford Aerospace and Stanford Telecommunications. He died June 18, 2024.
