William Nick Mathias ’65 was born Nov. 10, 1943, in Tacoma, Washington and graduated from Seattle Preparatory High School in 1961. He served in the Peace Corps in Nigeria for two years and in the Army in a non-combat role in Vietnam, followed by law school at the University of Washington. Nick practiced law in a large firm for a number of years, before established his own practice specializing in elder law, estate planning, health and health care law, which he retired from three years ago. Nick was an avid reader and enjoyed many interests including hiking, experiencing nature, music, theater, and caring for his beloved pets. He died unexpectedly Dec. 12, 2018, after experiencing several years of declining health. He was predeceased by parents William and Jean, and wife Sonia and is survived by his current wife, Robin, and seven siblings.
