William “JK” McGill ’81 was born on the grounds of Folsom Prison, When we went to college at Santa Clara, he became the lead singer in the band Rave. For one of his shows, he borrowed a pair of pink pants from Colleen M. McGill ’82, the woman he would marry at Mission Santa Clara only a few years later.
In 1988, JK bought Mike’s Coliseum, a comic book store, in San Jose. He sold the store in 2002 but continued to work there until he died. JK loved sharing experiences with his kids. Son Connor even became a lead singer of a band in college just like his dad, and continues to write and record music. JK, 62, died on January 21, 2022, and is survived by his wife and two children.
