William Edward Harley ’60 was born to Eternal Life on Jan. 15, 2011, at the age of 72 years. He was the eldest of four children born to William J. and Rosemarie Harley, and the grandson of William S. Harley, a co-founder of Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Loving husband of 47 years of Kathleen F. Harley (nee Janik). Caring father of William P. (Grace) and Julie (Matt) Smith. Cherished grandfather of William, Ashley, and Amanda. Dear brother of Mary (John) Stocking, Robert J. (Kristy), and Rosanne (Bill) Wright. Bill was born in Milwaukee, Wis., on Jan. 27, 1938. He was a graduate of Country Day School, Marquette High School, and attended Santa Clara University. Early in his career, he worked for Harley-Davidson in the accounting department. An avid duck hunter, outdoorsman and naturalist, Bill served in the Army Reserves.
