Timothy O’Keefe was Irish to the core, warm, humorous, and a great storyteller. He had a passion for history and he shared this with countless students at SCU. He made his life at Santa Clara, retiring as an emeritus professor in 2010. Tim held many administrative positions during his 45-year career at SCU. He was chair of the history department, an acting dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and a director of Santa Clara’s summer program in Durham, England. Tim received the Brutocao Award for Teaching Excellence in 1989. He and his wife, Julia O’Keefe ’67, shared their love of history and culture with the entire family. They traveled widely and often, frequently visiting historical sites in western Europe, but also venturing into Asia and North Africa. Tim died on June 10, 2022.
