To know Thomas Anton ’67 was to know his devotion to his grandchildren, his deep respect for the U.S. Navy, and his delight in life’s simple pleasures: a perfectly cooked meal, a glass of fine wine, and a Gary Larson comic. He began his legal career with “King of Torts” attorney Melvin Belli before returning to Bakersfield to open his own firm in 1980. Outside of the courtroom, Tom founded Cooks from the Valley, a remarkable effort that served more than 200,000 Harris Ranch steaks to U.S. military personnel around the world. Tom died on Dec. 20, 2024.
