Born Sept. 8, 1936, in Lancaster, California, to Laurence “Red” Orr and Edith Faina Orr, Terry Orr ’59 was the second eldest of ten children. He attended elementary school in Lancaster, graduated from Loyola High School in Los Angeles, and earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from SCU. He served proudly in the Army infantry and was honorably discharged with the rank of first lieutenant. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Barbara Howell, in 1956; together they raised five children in Lancaster and Leona Valley. Terry worked for many years in the Antelope Valley as a civil engineer. He served as chairman for the Red Cross and was active at Saint Elizabeth Mission in Lake Elizabeth. After moving back to Lancaster, Terry and Kathy were longtime parishioners at Saint Junipero Serra Catholic Church before relocating to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to be near their daughter, Bethe, and her family. Terry passed away in Crown Point, Indiana, on Jan. 27, 2019, and was preceded in death by his parents, Red and Edith Orr. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen; his five children, Maria Orr ’80, Suzanne McGuire, Tony Orr, Bethe Sailer, and Erin Orr; his 11 grandchildren, Adrienne, Stephanie, Morgan, Amanda, Cambria, Zachary, Ryan, Peter, Katlynn, Alexandria, and Jacob; his eight great-grandchildren, Landon, Jude, Kinley, Nora, Tristan, Emerie, Hasten, and Lyric; and his nine siblings.
