Ted Wayne Pickerrell ’70 was born in Oakland on Dec. 28, 1944, and was raised in Daly City. When he was 17 years old he joined the Air Force and entered an engineering program. During his military service in the early 1960s he was stationed abroad. Following his time in the Air Force he attended SCU and obtained an engineering degree and later, a master’s degree. Ted spend 30 years in a career as an engineer, and following his retirement, he took a position as the executive director of the Santa Cruz Pregnancy Resource Center, where he served for 10 years. Ted loved to play tennis every chance he could. He also loved reading and memorizing Bible scripture. He had a true passion for Christian ministry. Ted passed away on Oct. 13, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, five children, nine grandchildren, two stepchildren, a brother, and a sister. Many good friends he made throughout his life also survive him.
