Sylvia Anne Rankin ’78 passed away peacefully on Feb. 2 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 7, 1956 in Montreal, Canada, she called San Jose, Calif. her home since 1962. She was a graduate of Willow Glen High School and Santa Clara University. Sylvia was a talented art teacher who enjoyed working with children to bring forth their creative ability. Prior to her career as a teacher, she was a marketing professional in the tech industry. She had a commanding personality and a laugh that would fill a room. She will be missed by many. Sylvia leaves her devoted daughter, Andree, her loving mother, her father and his wife, three brothers, two nephews, a niece and many friends. A special thank you goes to Sylvia’s dear friends, Mary, Dana, Lucille and Lyn, for the special care and devotion they provided Sylvia during her illness. Everyone should be so fortunate to have such loving, caring friends.
