After battling cancer in 2000 and then again in 2022, Stuart Johnson ’86 dedicated much of his time to raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. When he received a stem cell transplant in 2011, Stuart made the long trip to Germany to meet his donor. Following graduation from Santa Clara, Stuart started his own business, the Signworks, where he loved the creative parts of designing and constructing signs. He had a zest for life and enjoyed exploring his creativity. Some of his hobbies were soccer, softball, tennis, music, whittling wood, travel, art, kayaking, gardening, and writing. He published three books of poetry and, at one point, played bass in a rock band. Stuart died on October 21, 2022, and is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandy, and their four children: Nate, Danny, Jeremy, and Lia.
