Steve Nash ’96 has retired from professional basketball after 18 years. The former Los Angeles Lakers point guard had led the Santa Clara Broncos to 3 NCAA tournament appearances in his four seasons there. The elusive, crafty guard was able to win the West Coast Conference player of the year award twice and rewrote the history books as the school’s all time leader in assists. Nash also played for the Phoenix Suns and was voted as the 9th greatest NBA point guard of all time and was able to shoot 50% from the field, 40% from 3 point land and 90% from the free throw line in 4 different seasons.
