Stephen Okonek MBA ’81 was elected vice president of Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO). TRIO, whose main office is in the Washington, DC area, was founded in 1987 by renowned transplant pioneer and surgeon Thomas Starzl. Formerly, Steve was president of the San Francisco Bay chapter of the organization for eight years. Steve received his first liver transplant on Jan 1, 1993, at UCSF; he underwent a second liver transplant on April 4, 2001, at the same center. He lives in Half Moon Bay and works as a consultant/technical writer in energy technologies.
