Stephen Kent ’63 discovered his love for journalism at SCU, where he made friends among the Machiavellian Society and served as the assistant editor of the newspaper. In 51 years in journalism, Steve covered big stories, including the D.B. Cooper hijacking and Spiro Agnew’s resignation. He would return home from the Catholic Press Association awards with trophies for stories that he shaped as an editor and writer. As a Catholic journalist, he traveled across the world calling attention to the less fortunate and neglected peoples—particularly children. Steve died Nov. 26, 2022.
