Whether in person or on the phone, Stephen Chan M.S. ’69 was always ready to connect. When he was beginning his career as a civil engineer in Seattle, Wash., Stephen met Emma and they married in 1969. Two years later, they moved to the Washington, D.C. area, where Stephen advanced his career with the City of Alexandria and later worked as a consultant in civil engineering and urban planning. He spent over 20 years with the Department of State, traveling globally to support U.S. Embassy design and development. Stephen retired in 2012 and treasured spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren. Stephen died on Feb. 18, 2025.
