Stella Ngai ’97 has been appointed the chief campus counsel for the University of California, Merced. She advises on a wide range of matters affecting faculty, students, and staff, including employment, business transactions, academic affairs, research, and student affairs. Ngai is the first female Asian-American chief campus counsel in the history of the University of California. In 2018, Ngai was appointed by the Board of Trustees of the State Bar of California to serve as a member of the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation (JNE). She is also the 2021 Commission Chair.
