Since the moment of birth, doctors knew Scott Thompson ’11 would reach great heights. By age 16, he was seven feet tall and playing basketball for elite teams in Boise and Seattle. He was invited to attend the Nike All-American Showcase and NBA Players Camp, and was aggressively recruited by college programs. During his junior year at Santa Clara, Scott experienced heart problems and was forced to retire early. After graduation, he returned to Boise and started a successful online business, buying all types of gear at auction and reselling it. Scott loved to travel, particularly scuba diving and paddle boarding in Hawaii. Scott had many medical disorders throughout his life and suffered from numerous injuries and multiple surgeries due to his height. He died June 9, 2024.
