Scott Stone MBA ’90 is running for Adams County Clerk/Recorder in Illinois. He is a native of Quincy, Ill., married to his wife, Michelle, and they have two young children.
He is a graduate of Quincy High School, has an electrical engineering degree from the University of Illinois, and his MBA from Santa Clara University. He comes from a family of business owners (Poepping, Stone, Bach & Associates, Illinois Watch Company and Collision Solutions) that led him to manage his own construction company, Stone & Sons Construction, after his engineering career in Silicon Valley and at Glenayre Corporation.
Stone got into politics six years ago and has helped numerous conservative candidates while being active with the Republican Party. In 2010, Stone served as the Adams County coordinator for Bobby Schilling’s successful congressional campaign.
In 2009, Stone joined the Quincy School Board Finance Committee and was elected to the full School Board in 2011. While on the School Board, Stone has chaired the discipline policy sub-committee creating new policies for each of the school buildings, and establishing a new attitude toward personal responsibility that was previously absent. Stone also served as a member of the contract negotiations team.
"In this capacity, I worked hard to make sure those taxpayers were well served and worked to control spending," Stone said.
