1999

Educated in San Mateo and Hillsborough elementary schools, Scott Baker J.D./MBA ’99 graduated from San Mateo High School, UC Davis, and SCU. Upon receiving his J.D. and MBA degrees, Scott commenced his specialty of performing corporate counsel tasks in a succession of high technology companies in Silicon Valley, including VMware, Proofpoint, and CipherCloud. His most recent professional affiliations included Paragon Legal and Adaptive Legal Group. An avid sports enthusiast, Scott followed the A’s to Arizona for Cactus League spring training and enjoyed cheering on the 49ers in both their San Francisco and Santa Clara stadiums. Scott participated in an adult baseball league in San Mateo for several years until broken bones, middle age, and time constraints intervened. He enjoyed interacting with nature as a hunter on his family’s interest in a Los Banos duck club, which he would describe to his more environmentally sensitive friends as “extreme bird watching.” Scott passed on Sept. 2, 2019, at Mills Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame with family members at his side. He was 45 years of age. He is survived by his parents, Gary and Mary Lynn Baker of Hillsborough; brother Grant and his wife, Dania, of San Mateo; brother Clark and his wife, Gina, and their daughter Layla of South Carolina; and many cousins spread across the county.
