After entering the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1951, Samuel Winklebleck ’51 spent two years patrolling the Pacific, an experience that shaped his sense of duty and adventure. Following his service, Sam dedicated nearly four decades to The Wall Street Journal as a copy editor. In retirement, Sam poured his heart into volunteering for local organizations like Catholic Charities and Second Harvest Food Bank, giving selflessly of his time to help others. Sam found joy in traveling, hiking, biking, and attending the theater, embracing life’s simple pleasures with enthusiasm and curiosity. Sam died on Jan. 1, 2024.
