Sam Imperati ’74 is the Executive Director of the Institute for Conflict Management, Inc (ICM), an Oregon-based, national and international provider of mediation, facilitation, and training services. Imperati has been an attorney for more than 31 years, is Martindale-Hubble AV rated, and has managed more than 2,500 disputes. He was formerly Assistant Corporate Counsel with Nike, in private practice, and has handled litigation and mediated everything from “Admiralty to Zoning.” He has served as a Judge Pro Tem, as Chair of the Oregon State Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, and as an Executive Committee member of the Portland Neighborhood Mediation Center Advisory Committee. Imperati has been a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR), the Oregon Mediation Association (OMA), the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2), and the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD). He was on the OSB Ethics Committee, was Chair of the Multnomah Local Professional Responsibility Committee, and serves on OMA’s Standards and Practices Committee. He appears in the 2006 through 2011 editions of The Best Lawyers in America for mediation. He was the recipient of the 2007 Oregon Mediation Association Sid Lezak Award of Excellence for Outstanding Service to the Profession of Mediation in Oregon. In 2010, he received the Oregon State Bar ADR Section, Lezak Award for mediation.
