He was an active member of Waverley Country Club and the Multnomah Athletic Club and a rabid follower of Stanford football, having been a sportswriter for the Stanford Daily in college, as well as sports in general. He died on May 2, 2018, in Portland and is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years and caregiver, Joyce Allen; his children, Rodney and John Allen and Denise Eunson, all of Portland; Joyce’s daughters Kristin Howell (Harold Carlston) of Portland, Meagan MacKay (Steve) of Tsawwassen, British Columbia, and Aimee McAllister (Justin); six grand and step-grandchildren; and siblings Michael B. Allen Sr. and Lucinda Blair, both of Portland. Russ will be remembered for his loyalty to friends, sense of humor, warm smile, quick wit, and clever repartee.
