Even in the final year of his life Ronald Fuchs M.S. ’66 showed no signs of slowing down. At the age of 90, he embarked on a 53-day cruise to Japan, declaring he didn’t want to sit at home staring at the walls. He survived breaking his hip aboard the ship, the ensuing hip replacement surgery in Japan, and the arduous trip home. In his earlier life, Ronald served as a radar operations officer in the U.S. Air Force then pursued a career in the defense industry, mostly with Lockheed Corp. His roles included engineering management for programs like the Hubble Space Telescope and designing innovative systems like a supply vehicle for the International Space Station. His entrepreneurial spirit later led him to start a development company to build custom homes in San Jose. Ronald was determined, competitive, and intelligent; admitting he was wrong was cause for celebration in his family. Ronald died on Dec. 7, 2024.
