Robert Uyttebroek ’77 is the new finance director for the City of Newark, replacing retired Dennis McFarland. He received a bachelor of arts from the University of Santa Clara and a master of public administration from Golden Gate University. He joins the staff with more than 25 years of municipal finance experience.
City Manager Kyle Sonnenberg says, “I welcome Rob’s enthusiasm and excitement particularly for pursuing operational improvements and further exploiting the opportunities for information technology to have a positive impact on the city.”
Uyttebroek served in the Navy prior to starting his career in municipal finance in New England, where he oversaw operating budgets in three cities ranging from $40 million to $80 million. He brings with him expertise in treasury operations, operating and capital budgeting including revenue forecasting, cost-benefit analysis, issuance of debt instruments, capital project management, revenue collection and payroll administration, and information technology.
