Robert Michael Devitt Jr. ‘62 was a man of the law. After passing his bar exam, Michael worked as a lawyer for Lloyd Somogyi in San Luis Obispo. In 1974, he opened his own law practice, and by the time of his retirement, he was the longest-practicing lawyer in the City of San Luis Obispo. Michael also taught business law at Cuesta College for 40 years and served as the Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) attorney for Cal Poly for 15 years. He wrote the San Luis Obispo County Bar Journal’s “Reflections” articles for several years and regularly hosted the annual Irish Bar Association’s gathering on St. Patrick’s Day. He died in November 2021 and is survived by his wife of 58 years.
