Robert J. Sanchez J.D. ’75, resident of San Jose, dedicated family man, artful legal counsel and faithful man of God, was received into his heavenly home June 10, 2010. Born in Silver City, New Mexico on January 16, 1945, the son of Nolberta and Jose Sanchez. His childhood years were spent in Silver City, where he graduated from Silver City High School. Robert received his B.A. from Western New Mexico University with honors in mathematics. After honorably serving in the U. S. Air Force, he was one of the first of many promising Latino students to be recruited to the University of Santa Clara Law School where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1975. Dedicated to serving the poor and under-represented, Robert was a founding father of La Casa Legal, a firm which served the legal needs of many in his adopted home of San Jose, California. Loving husband of Evelyn Sanchez, he was an honest hardworking man of integrity who dedicated his life to his family and his community. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his keen mind, his culinary skill and his expressive water colors. Robert was an endearing spark of laughter and good humor. Robert is survived by his wife of 35 years, Evelyn Gonzalez Sanchez, his three sons Asa Morgan Sanchez, Crisol Xavier Sanchez, Francisco Jose Sanchez, his sister Gloria Lopez and his brother Ronald Sanchez. His endearing presence will be sorely missed by countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.
