Robert Garibaldi ’64 hit big early in his baseball career when he won the 1962 College World Series most outstanding player award. Bob is the only player from Santa Clara University to ever win that award and he also set a strikeout and innings-pitched record in the series. He signed with the San Francisco Giants and jumped straight from college to the major leagues. On his debut day, he faced the Mets and pitched a perfect inning. After baseball, Bob had a very successful career in the distribution business. He remained a devoted fan of SCU and the Giants. Bob died May 13, 2023, and is survived by family including niece Jennier Kearney ’83.
