2005

Robert F. Delgadillo M.Div. ’05 recently received a Ph.D. in theology and church history from Fuller Theological Seminary, in Pasadena, California. His dissertation, “A Study of El Censor: A New Perspective of the Catholic Church in the Spanish Enlightenment” examines El Censor, the essay periodical published in Madrid from 1781 to 1787, shedding new light on the study of the religious Enlightenment, especially in the context of the Roman Catholic Church. The dissertation passed with distinction because of the quality of the translations and its insightful analysis. His conclusion is that it was possible to be enlightened and Catholic at the same time. Originally from Los Angeles, Robert Delgadillo credits his mother for teaching him to read and write Spanish at an early age.
