Robert R. Dalziel ’76 passed away at his home in Los Gatos on Jan. 11, 2015, at the age of 64.

He was born in 1951 in Oakland, California, to Robert E. and Roszeen Dalziel. Edwin and Ruth Witter raised him as if he was one of their own after the death of Robert’s parents when he was ten years old. After graduating from Clayton High School in Clayton, Missouri, where he excelled in cross-ountry running, he was drafted into the United States Army. After serving honorably in Vietnam, he graduated from Santa Clara University and settled in Los Gatos. He retired from Consolidated Freightways after close to 30 years of employment where he made many dear friends. 

Scottish proud, Robert’s diversified skills, interests and attributes included an appreciation of fine food and wine. He was a gourmet chef, private airplane pilot, rancher at his beloved ranch in Central California, hunter, craftsman and gardener. He served as the "voice of reason" for the family in financial decisions, and was kind and generous with his advice.

A devoted family man, his greatest pleasure in life was spending time with family members. Robert is survived by his wife Kathy of 16 years, as well as his daughters Katherine and Abby, son Robert D. (Melissa), and stepson Jonathan (Adrien). He was a kind and loving grandpa to Casey, Christopher, Ava, Jaxon and Annabelle. Robert is survived by his brothers Donald (Marilyn), Cary (Kate), and Thomas (Preet), his sister Nancy, and many nieces and nephews. He remained close to the Witter Family, and is survived by Laura Witter, Richard Witter, Robert Witter, and their children. His optimism, professionalism and refined sense of humor had a positive impact on everyone who knew him. He was much loved and he will be sorely missed.
