After earning his degree in mechanical engineering, Robert Ebert ’51 moved to West Los Angeles to work as a draftsman for North American Aviation. His career led him to the San Gabriel Valley where he met the love of his life, Nella Pizzinat. In the early 1960s, Bob traded in his slide-rules for a computer, joining IBM as a Systems Engineer. He enjoyed a long career and was proud to be an IBMer, retiring in 1989. Bob and Nella raised three children, all of whom graduated from SCU, James Ebert ’79, Gina (Ebert) Levy ’80, and Cherie (Ebert) O’Connor ’84. In retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling, taking many cruises and trips to Europe and Hawaii with his beloved Nella. He also devoted may hours to volunteer efforts through the Rotary Club and was very active as a both a eucharistic minister and a lector in his local parish. Bob died on July 30, 2020, and is survived by his children and seven grandchildren.
