1993

Rob Devincenzi ’93, editor and publisher of several South Bay newspapers, has been named president and publisher of Marin Independent Journal. Devincenzi was named Milpitas business man of the year in 2010 and this year was a nominee for citizen of the year.

Devincenzi, 44, began work with the Milpitas Post Newspapers in 1993 as a reporter, shortly after graduating from Santa Clara University with a bachelor’s degree in communication with an emphasis in print journalism.

He was promoted to managing editor a year later, and in 1999 became editor and publisher as well as advertising director. He has helped launch two newspapers, the Fremont Bulletin in 1996 and, in August 2014, the Newark Connection.

Devincenzi said, “My heart has always been in community newspapers — it’s what I do, what I’ve done for 23 years. One of my goals is to become actively engaged in the community, particularly with nonprofits, charities and chambers of commerce.”

Devincenzi is married to Monica and has two sons, ages 15 and 11 years old. They live in San Mateo.
