From Bellarmine College Prep to SCU, Richard Reilley ’72 was educated in the Jesuit tradition. He was a proud and loyal alum and continued his spiritual growth as a member of St. Ignatius Parish in San Francisco. Dick was a singular intellect, a classicist, fluent in Latin, Ancient Greek, and James Joyce. A lawyer by trade, rather than going to law school, he read for the bar and passed on his first attempt. Proudly eccentric, he never owned a computer nor a cell phone. He was always engaging and equally at ease with paupers and princes. Dick died Jan. 16, 2023, and is survived by family, including brother Martin Reilley ’75, and sisters Kathleen May ’84 and Mary Reilley ’76.
