Richard Pope M.S. ’82 loved teaching. He received his master’s in education from Santa Clara, taught elementary school for many years, diligently modifying curriculum to fit individual needs, and developed the Gateway to Critical Thinking Program for educators. Richard, a lover of all sports, never missed a game or dance performance of his daughter’s. He was proud of her tennis accomplishments and work ethic. In retirement, he pursued new adventures, from classical music to tailoring his own outfits. Naturally, there was time for golf and bridge. Ever the optimist, he smiled freely, filled with the enthusiasm of the children he inspired. Richard died October 25, 2021.
