San Jose native Richard Nailen ’50 was an electrical engineer with 33 years of experience in industrial electric motors and generators. He served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later worked as a motor specialist for Wisconsin Electric Power Co. until his second retirement in 1985. An internationally recognized author and lecturer, Dick wrote over 1,000 technical articles and papers, along with three books on motors, controls, and electric power technology. Outside of his career, Dick had a passion for fire buffing and authored the histories of the San Jose and Milwaukee Fire Departments. Richard died on July 28, 2024.
