Richard Douglas Matthews ’97, a colorectal surgeon in Chico, was profiled in the article “Like father, like son,” on www.newsreview.com.

Matthews graduated from the Boston University School of Medicine in 2003 and completed a six-year residency at the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City, in 2009. He completed a year-long colorectal surgery fellowship at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick, N.J., before heading back to Chico in 2010 to become a colorectal surgeon, just like his father.

He joined his father’s private practice, and today, they even perform surgeries together.
